Cancer Mythbusters video launch!
January 28, 2013

To celebrate World Cancer Day, Princess Margaret took to the streets of Toronto to find out what people thought about common cancer myths. To kick-off Cancer Mythbusters, we have a special video message from Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz, medical director of Princess Margaret and president of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

On February 4th, 2013 you are invited to World Cancer Day hosted by the Campaign to Control Cancer, MaRS and The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Join us from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the MaRS Centre Auditorium at 101 College Street, Toronto, Ontario and registration is free.

The Campaign to Control Cancer (C2CC) World Cancer Day event will highlight new approaches to cancer control, including campus-based prevention efforts by young Canadians; harnessing the potential of social entrepreneurs and cancer partnerships to break down fear; and the latest innovations in care. The event speakers will address some of the confusion and misunderstanding about the disease, helping to debunk four of the most common cancer myths. Our own Paul Alofs will be moderating and Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz will be part of the panel reflecting on cancer myths.

The event will also feature a showcase of exhibits from partners - students, government agencies, charities, corporate supporters and others - engaged in cancer control and care.

World Cancer Day ¿ an initiative of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) ¿ is an opportunity to raise collective voices about how we can take control of cancer and help stop myths, confusion, fear and misunderstanding about the disease.
