Dr. Doris Howell re-appointed as RBC Chair in Oncology Nursing Research & Education

Dr. Doris Howell has been re-appointed as the RBC Chair in Oncology Nursing Research & Education.  Earlier this year, Dr. Howell was also promoted to Senior Scientist in the Onatrio Cancer Institute at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.  

Dr. Howell has been an outstanding inaugural RBC chair at The Princess Margaret.  She create a person-focused, interdisciplinary program of research well supported by over 6 million dollars in external funding that has enabled her to further her work on complex symptom issues and interventions for self-management by patients across multiple disease populations.  

Additionally, her leadership and research in the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcomes and Guidelines for Distress to advance personalized support of cancer patients has been taken up at UHN, as part of national measurement of patient experience, and internationally.  Her Evidence-Based Framework to advance the quality of living with the illness is being adapted for use with the Collaborative Academic Portfolio and across UHN.
